Milan, Italy

Last week, I flew to Italy with a couple of friends for the first time! I was so excited to try all the gelatos, pizzas and pastas my friends have been raving about!

 What an amazing view!
Flew with British Airways to Milan, which takes about 2hours from London. Upon arrival, we took a cab to our accommodation and off we went hunting for food! We were famished!

Mozzarella e Basilico
Piazzetta Pattari 42, Milan, Italy

First meal, we dined in at Mozzarella e Basilico, a stone throw away from Duomo! I conclude that they have the best pizzas! The cheese on the pizza is spot on! Usually the pizza that we eat are just grated cheese topped on. Here it is different!! I saw the pizza chef actually chopped big round mozzarella cheese balls and top on the pizza! Delizioso!

Next, I had the best gelato on earth! The winner goes to.. CioccolatItaliani! I can't believe I queued for almost an hour for a cone! The unique part is that you get to choose what chocolate fudge you would like to have in your cone! There is white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate fudge! There are so many flavours to choose from! I chose Pistachio and Yogurt! There are pistachio bits in the gelato. It is not too bad for 3euros! I LOVE IT!

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II , one of the tourist attraction in Milan. It is located beside Duomo, you won't miss it! The beauty of this building is the architecture. Just look inside! There are shops and some cafes as well.

Duomo di Milano, everyone knows !

In Milan, you have to try fried luni! At first I was skeptical and wonder how good it is! Many on the streets have luini in their hands! Yes, the piping hot fried luini! You can't miss! It is around 2euros + for one luini! The tomato with mozzarella is definitely the winner!

Ristorante a Milano: Aputia
Really good risotto and pizza near Loreto metro

That concludes my 3days in Milan! If you intend to visit Milan, I think 2days will be good as there wasn't much in Milan itself. We were suppose to head to Lake Como but the trains were on strike. We got really unlucky ! A little travel reminder: While taking trains in Italy, it is also important to VALIDATE your ticket. We got fined because we didn't know that we are suppose to validate our ticket!

Next post: Florence :)

Eastbourne, Beachy Head

Booked our train tickets a couple of weeks ago before heading to Eastbourne! It is always an advantage to book your trains ticket in advance to get the best deal!! We only paid £6.60 return (including rail discounts).

Eastbourne is fairly near Brighton! It is a nice place to visit actually. We WALKED to Beachy Head! It is more than 3miles away from the station! I can't believe we actually did it. The weather wasn't great:( If not we could have made it to Birling Gap as well!!

We went on a Saturday but transportation is limited. There is only a City tour bus which operates every hour. There will be more buses on Sunday and public holidays if you want to get there via buses! Best way to get to Beachy head is to DRIVE. We manage to hitch a ride on our way back :P

Gloomy weather by the beach!

This is beachy head from a distance! We followed the route 'Beachy Head Walk' towards Beachy head! It isn't difficult to navigate! Eastbourne is so clean compared to London! BEAU-TIFUL!

Finally we arrived! It was so scary to sit by the cliff. That view was breathtaking.

Portobello Road Market

On friday, one of my friend from Singapore arrived in London so I decided to bring her around Portobello Road Market after our Brunch at Muffin Man, which has the BEST SCONES. The last time I went to Portobello market was horrid! It was pouring and the stalls start to pack when we arrived! Thankfully the weather was pretty great this time!

Portobello Market is one of the best markets in London, you definitely have to check it out! It is a short walk from Notting Hill Gate station which runs on the District and Circle Line. If you want to get nice antiques stuff, it is best to visit them on Saturdays as antiques and bric-a-brac stalls only opens on Saturday.

Loving the colours!!

Portobello Road literally has everything! You can find many vintage items here if you are a fan!

Loving these little tea sets!

Im so tempted to get some eclairs and beliner which were going at £1 each because the market is coming to an end! They were huge!! Definitely try them next time!!

Pretty flowers. Spring at its best!

Market opening times
09:00 – 18:00 Monday To Wednesday
09:00 – 13:00 Thursday
09:00 – 19:00 Friday and saturday.

Pretty girl brought me Chillicrab and fish soup ramen from Singapore!! Thanks JP!

Singapore Day 2014, London

Last week, Singapore Day 2014 was held at Victoria Park in London! It is basically a reunion for Singaporeans in Europe/UK! I was quite surprised that we all Singaporeans are indeed enthusiastic! There are close to 9,000 people attended. Some of them even flew all the way to London for this day! It was amazing, despite the long queues to get some local food that we all miss so much! The best part is, everything is FREE? Its a no brainer.

Each of us received a picnic mat, a bottle of water, some heat pack ( if bad weather approaches) , wet tissues, and an umbrella! The overseas singaporean unit is really thoughtful !

Presenting you the best of the day, SAMBAL STINGRAY! Look how generous the portion is! Everyone got a piece each! I think it probably cost $10 for 2 pieces in Singapore!

Hainan Chicken rice which I didn get to eat because the queue was way too long!

And yeah, 1 chicken wing for a 30mins queue! Its worth it, they should sell the chilli, its too good! I can never find it in London :(

Lovely weather at Victoria Park ! Everyone is indulging with all the food they've got. Singapore still has the best food, BEST.

There were so many things going on but sorry for the lack of photos! I just couldn't stop eating and I have no hands for my camera :( Im so happy that I met my primary school friend, Cally at the event!!! Oh my, its been more than 8years! Time flies, can't believe it is already my final semester in London. T.T
