Interrail VS Eurail

Here is how my interrail pass looks like! For people who are confused between the Interrail and the Eurail pass, I hope this post will let you understand who is eligible for the Interrail pass.

For people who are studying/live in UK/Europe for more than 6months, you will be entitled to get an Interrail pass. The interrail pass is much cheaper compared to the Eurail pass but it works the same way. As I am studying in the UK, I am able to get an Interrail pass(€442), which is much cheaper than the Eurail pass (€595) for a month continuous travel by rail. If I live in the UK, the interrail pass does not allow me to travel in my 'own' country. But for people who are living in France, Germany etc, will be able to use their Interrail pass in Great Britain. While for Eurail, I realised that it DOES NOT include Great Britain rails. Thus, you are allowed to travel by rail in most of the countries but UK is not included FYI.

Download the app on your iPhone or Android! (the interrail timetable works offline as well) For these  apps, it also tells you if you need to make reservation for your upcoming trip. If reservation is compulsory, there will be a 'R' stated. Most of the regional trains do not require reservation. Thus, the good thing about a rail pass is that you can just hop onto any regional trains to explore out of that city. It gives us a lot of flexibility. 

Prices for trains that require for reservation can be found here. I made most of my reservations on SNCF . It allows me to pay everything in pounds, and also charge me one postage fees. If you were to book tickets from Trenitalia, Bahn etc, you have to pay multiple postage fees. 

We took so many trains that we ran out of space. These are most of our journeys but some may be missing because we didn't have time to write. Most of the time the train conductor on the regional trains will just check if your ticket is valid, and so, it may not matter if you list it down. I guess it is just for you yourself to keep track of your own journey.

At the end of your trip, You can actually mail the rail pass back (there is instructions on the pass) and they will send you a gift!

Hope this helps people who are intending to get a rail pass to get around Europe. Everyone needs an epic trip! I may not be able to explore an entire city within the short period of time I've spend in, but it is all the crazy adventure that counts! An itinerary is just a guide, but we humans are flexible. We make changes, go on adventures, see and experience new things everywhere. So what if it is just 1 or 2 hours in a place? No matter where or why we travel, there is always something wonderfully new to be found.
